VHS Vienna is a large adult education institution with a longstanding tradition in adult basic education. It has 1000 employed staff and about 3000 freelance teachers and trainers. VHS Vienna offers a wide range of courses in general education and runs projects for pupils (Förderung 2.0), Roma children (Roma Lernhilfe), basic skills courses in the framework of the initative adult education, as well as upcycling projects (DRZ Wien) and integration courses (Integration ab Tag eins).
VHS Vienna has a longstanding tradition of outreach and empowerment work especially in municipal social housing projects. We have more than 125 years of experience in the field of adult education which made it possible for millions of people to work on their skills and most of all to break social barriers.
We developed into one of the biggest organization for adult education in the German speaking countries. We offer about 20 000 courses every year. Around 140 000 people register for VHS Vienna courses. VHS Vienna provides the basis for further education for people with different qualification by its huge range of courses and its democratic approach to education.
