The original DigComp names 21 digital compentences, grouped into 5 areas. The competences are described with sentences such as "2.1. Interacting through digital technologies." In our own adaption of the model, we decided to rather use "me"-sentences. The same competence in our version is called "I am able to use different media
to communicate and interact with others."

We believe that with sentences like this (instead of the abstract wording used in the official DigComp), it will be easier for everybody to handle these competences. This is true for our teachers and educational managers, and it is definitely true for our customers (learners). We believe a sentence such as "I am able to use different media to communicate and interact with others" is easier to relate to one's own everyday life.

Difficulties

Working out competence definitions with "me"-sentences turned out to be more time-consuming than we initially thought. The sentences must be phrased with a lot of attention to find the right balance between universality and comprehensibility. And in different languages different problems occur.

The 5 Areas of DicComp 2.2. and their 21 competences
The 5 competence areas and 21 competences as defined in the official DigComp 2.2. Competence descriptions use abstract definitions. We wanted our own definitions to be easier to understand by the average reader.
