Scuola Centrale Formazione ETS is a network of VET and adult education centres across Italy, with over 100 centres in 14 regions. Given the scale and diversity of our network, our actions can make a significant impact on the lives of learners across the country. Every year, we design training paths for trainers that respond to their evolving needs, and today digital competence is more relevant than ever.
While digital skills have long been part of our work, we had never developed a training programme focused entirely on the DigComp framework. However, the need is clear: it’s no longer enough for trainers to simply use digital tools, they must also be able to teach and assess the digital competences of their learners. That’s why we decided to test a short training for trainers revolving solely around DigComp. We will start to develop this training in the context of the Erasmus+ DigCompAE project, but our goal is to make this a permanent offering in our network — one that evolves as the framework itself evolves.
The main goal will be to introduce trainers to the framework and then to work with them on the ways the DigComp can be of help in their work. A wide range of trainers will be involved, mainly working in adult education with a target of vulnerable adults. This decision stems from the needs observed in our centres about the digital competences of unemployed adults that have to go through a process of upskilling and/or reskilling in order to enter the job market again. In our workshops we will try to answer these needs and develop a way to make it easy for trainers to integrate DigComp in their workflow.
